If a moving day is coming up in your near future, you might be wondering if there are some tips for making the task less stressful. Getting tips from a professional moving company is one way in which to do this. At In & Out Moving & Delivery LLC, we advise customers every day on steps they can take to make things run as smoothly as possible, whether your move is across town in the Charlotte, NC area or across the country.
- Packing Boxes: Be sure to obtain quality boxes for your move. Reusing old boxes is fine if they are sturdy and in good shape, but you may need to add extra tape on the seams to be sure the bottom doesn’t drop out when they are being carried.
- Fragile: Don’t overdo it with the word FRAGILE on your boxes. If a moving company sees this on every single box, they may get complacent and disbelieve they all have something fragile in them. You don’t have to worry about this as much if we are doing your move, though, since we treat every single box as if it carried the most valuable fragile treasure of all time. When marking things as fragile, be sure to use a dark marker and write it in large, legible print.
- Box Markings: Besides noting when a box contains fragile items, if it is important that the box remain upright, add arrows to all sides indicating which direction is up. Also label which room the box will need to go to in the new home. Be consistent and use wording such as “Master Bedroom,” “East Bedroom,” and “West Bedroom” instead of “Joe’s room” or “Tammy’s room” to avoid confusion. We also recommend that you number the boxes and keep a notebook in which you keep track of the box numbers and a brief description of what is in each of them. This will make it easier when it comes time to unpack so you can get right to the important stuff first.
There are various ways in which we can aid you in keeping organized during the move.
