Preparing for Your Residential Move

We make residential moves as seamless as possible. We recommend beginning packing early. Here are a few simple steps to make sure your move will flow successfully.
  • Label each box with the room they belong to in your home
  • Label boxes with ‘fragile’ items and protect them individually with packing material or crushed newspaper; packing peanuts can fill gaps to prevent breakage.
  • Wardrobe boxes save you time by taking hanging items straight from your closet into the box. Don’t forget to use the space at the bottom of the box for folded clothing items and lightweight shoes!
  • Do not overpack boxes. We recommend 50 lbs. or less. Pack heavy items on the bottom and finish with light items on top.
  • Unplug large electronics to be moved, such as TV or stereo, and remove them from the furniture.
  • The refrigerator should be defrosted and dry before your move with all trays, crispers, or shelves removed and packed. Tape the electrical cord in back to avoid damage.
  • Washer/Dryers should be unplugged, and any attachments packed. Tape the electrical cords in the back before the move.
